Horley Town Council would like to address the longstanding problem of certain pavements in and around Horley Town Centre causing access problems for many mobility users, pushchair users etc due to lack of accessibility and their poor condition.
We wish to form a community group to initially carry out an audit so that we can identify the worst affected footpaths and bring the matter to the attention of the Highways Authority (Surrey County Council) to request that necessary repairs are carried out.
So if you are interested in joining this group and could assist with the audit, then please contact Cllr Fiona Stimpson for further details at: Fiona.Stimpson@horleysurrey-tc.gov.uk The Red Box Project
The Red Box Project is a community-based, not-for-profit initiative, which aims to support young people throughout their periods by providing red boxes filled with free period products to local schools.
To learn more and see how you can help go to the news item on our website Horley Conservation Group Many thanks to those that helped out at Tanyard Meadow (above), namely Ian Preddy, Cath McNab (plus Alasdair and Robin), Jan Spratt and Maggie Heisse. They managed to clear the section of the Burstow Stream between Lake Lane and Scotchman’s Copse (Catherine B has also cleared from Scotchman’s Copse to the footbridge), so well done all.
The meadow was looking good as well…lots of nice plants coming through for the insects now, including Birds-foot Trefoil, Meadowsweet, Red (and White) Clover and Buttercups. At least six species of Butterflies were seen on a brief walk around and a Green Woodpecker feeding on the numerous Ant nests. At The Fieldings Orchard there are now around 50 species of plants (including grasses), which is not bad for such a small space. Hopefully this number will increase over the next few years.
HCG's next task day is on Saturday the 17th August, when they will be cutting and raking the grass etc around the fruit trees at The Fieldings, so please meet me there at 09:45 if you can make it. Photo: wildflowers at Church Meadows.
Why not pop down and take a look at the riot of colour and see how many butterflies you can spot? Overhanging Vegetation

The High Court has granted Reigate & Banstead Borough Council a protective injunction to prevent illegal encampments on land it owns. The temporary injunction, secured on 1 July 2019, will remain in force for three months in advance of a full hearing for a permanent injunction in November 2019.
It covers 158 sites in the borough including parks, playgrounds, open spaces, agricultural land and car parks. The injunction forbids caravans, mobile homes, vans and lorries from coming onto the land and setting up camps or dumping waste on it.
