Shout! Shout! Let it all out”!
Yes really! It’s ok to tell people how good you are. Certainly for the Brits reading this, that goes right against all the messages we were told as kids - “don’t blow your own trumpet” and things like that. For those of you reading this in other parts of the world, was it like that where you grew up?
This isn’t about bragging or making yourself out to be something you’re not. It’s just about recognising that it serves everyone if you can tell them where you can really contribute to their success. Think about it:
- If you’re at a job interview, how can the interviewer make a good business decision about whether to hire you if they don’t know how good you are and how you can help their company?
- If you’re running a business, how can your potential customer make a good decision about buying your services if you don’t tell them the benefits to them and why you are very good?
- In a performance appraisal, how will you explain how you deserve the pay rise if you don’t tell your boss all the benefits you brought in the last year?
Think about it. This could be a game changer for you and other people in your life, at work and outside. So get out there and share your contributions proudly.
Have a great month and here’s to your success.
Dave
