Are you making a point of enjoying your work?
Hello %FirstName%.
It was grey and wet last Monday morning. I was at St Pancras International early, but it was already bustling with commuters and tourists, mostly with heads down, intent on getting where they were going. I was browsing in a shop when something caught my eye: a quote from Abraham Lincoln (see quote of the month below) on a box of chocolates.
I paused to look again at the mass of people passing through the station to see what those people looked like. Take a look around you now. How many people do you see who look like they're enjoying what they're doing?
Without further ado, let’s open the box and find out what all that got me thinking about!

How much time do you spend really living?
Yeah, I’m not talking about breathing and stuff, though I accept that’s a good place to start!!
I mean really living: enjoying yourself in your work and everyday activities; taking time to notice the wonder in the world around you, and not just the natural stuff (trees, birds, flowers, the sky). What about the buildings (here in London you’ve only got to look up to see some amazing architecture). What about the people? Do you appreciatre your colleagues, family, friends? Do you tell them?
Have you ever noticed how something as simple as a smile from someone (colleague, friend, stranger) can brighten your day?
I believe that happiness is a way of travel (rather than the destination): in otherwords you can choose to be happy any time you want. So in your work and outside, this month I’m inviting you to notice the good things, and only the good things, in the world around you, the people you meet, and in your work.
- Make a point of smiling or saying "hello" to at least one person each morning on your way to work or whereever you're off to.
- Take a minute, three times each day, to just look around you and appreciate the world an people around you.
- Take time at the end of each day to notice what you did that was good today, both at work and play.
That's three simple things that you can easily fit into your day. Let everyone know how it improves your days by posting your experiences on facebook at www.facebook.com/DaveCordleCoach - please “like” the page while you’re there.
Here’s to your increasing success.
