Success! How accurate is your definition?
The dictionary definition is: Noun. The accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
But as I said in the intro, we often label people a “success” or “successful” depending on their lifestyle, wealth or job title. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this and, indeed, it can be aspirational.
Where it becomes a problem though, is when we do this and, perhaps not consciously, label ourselves as unsuccessful.
So ask yourself this: what does success mean to you and how do you define it? Is it purely about the money or is it what the money can do for you. If so, what specifically?
For you it may go beyond that. It might be about who you are being and then what you are doing as a result of that rather than what you are having. Consider this: if you felt really successful (you may like to find a quite spot to get into that zone), how would you be acting, who would you be serving, how would you be bringing your unique genius to the world?
So this month, decide what success means to you. One of my favourite mindsets is “there’s no such thing as failure, only feedback”, so don’t define WHO you are by successes and failures. Those things happen to everyone. You will always be your own brilliant you.
Here’s to your success (however you define that).
Dave
